Our orthodontist specializes in braces for kids. During your child’s first visit, our orthodontist will examine your child’s teeth, mouth, and jaw to determine if braces are a good option for your child. If our orthodontist finds that your kid will benefit from orthodontic treatment during your examination, then we will discuss treatment options. We know this process can be a bit tedious for some children, so we try to make the process as fun as possible.
Our waiting room is kid friendly with a game room, movie room, slide, and baby play area. We even have a study area at our Atlanta location for kids who need to complete their homework. Parents can also use the study room to sip complimentary coffee while finishing any office work or take some down-time while waiting for their child to finish their appointment. You and your kids will actually like going to the orthodontist!
Our orthodontic staff are super friendly and always empathetic to your child’s needs. You will be very glad you joined the Brookhaven Orthodontics family!
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment option orthodontists recommend to adults and teens that don’t want to commit to wearing braces full time. At Brookhaven Orthodontics, we offer these removable clear aligners to patients. The Invisalign Treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth over the course of several months. Dr. Cox can walk you through the fitting process and how these trays are custom-made for your orthodontic treatment. We also offer similar orthodontic appliances like Spark. During your free consultation, Dr. Cox can discuss how the Invisalign treatment may help you achieve your dental goals.
Dr. Cox and the staff at Brookhaven Orthodontics are top notch. They are always prompt with appointments and explain things thoroughly. I always feel like they make the time to speak with you at every appointment. Also, they aren't trying to sell you into getting braces if your children don't need them at that time (or other devices). I would highly recommend them for any of your orthodontia needs.
We’ve had Dr. Cox fit braces for all three of our kids and we’ve been so happy with the experience. He’s been very thorough and great to work with, our kids really like the staff and the office, and their teeth and smiles look terrific. I’d highly recommend this practice to anyone in the Johns Creek area.
Today we are celebrating my son getting his braces removed and I’m really going to miss all the faces at Brookhaven Orthodontics. They have guided us along the way and were so kind and personable in the process. We have a couple experiences of needing to reach someone on a weekend, at off times and the call is always returned within minutes with prompt solutions provided for the problem at hand. Dr. Cox is so nice to the kids and all the hygienists are gentle and caring. We will be back with little sister soon!

An orthodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on diagnosing, preventing, and treating misaligned teeth, treating a range of dental and facial irregularities. They use a variety of orthodontic treatments and technologies, such as traditional metal braces, clear aligners, and retainers, to straighten teeth, correct bite issues, and improve overall oral function and aesthetics. Their goal is to ensure that your teeth and jaws are properly aligned, which can enhance both your smile and your oral health. Orthodontists undergo extensive training beyond dental school to master these skills and provide personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
They work with patients of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults, tailoring their treatments to meet individual needs and ensure a healthier, more aligned smile.
Dentists offer general dental care, including cleanings, fillings, and treatments for oral health issues. Orthodontists who complete additional years of specialized training beyond dental school for orthodontics, focus on correcting teeth and jaw misalignments using braces, clear aligners, and other appliances. Their advanced training and certification ensure they have the expertise to create precise treatment plans for optimal alignment and bite function.
No, orthodontists do more than just braces and teeth straightening. In addition to using braces and clear aligners to align teeth, they also diagnose and treat bite issues like overbites, underbites, and crossbites. Orthodontists address jaw alignment problems and manage growth and development in children to prevent future issues. Their comprehensive approach aims to improve both functional and aesthetic aspects of oral health.
You might need to see an orthodontist if you have crooked or crowded teeth, bite issues like overbites or underbites, or jaw alignment problems. Dentists often refer patients to orthodontists when they notice early signs of alignment issues or irregularities that could benefit from specialized treatment. For young children, typically around ages 6 or 7, a dentist might refer them if they observe concerns like significant crowding of primary teeth, signs of improper bite development, or jaw growth issues. Early intervention can help guide proper dental development and address potential problems before they become more severe.
